Nigerian Singer Tems Wins Grammy At 67th Annual Award Ceremony

Should it be said that it's been a long time coming? Well, either way, that might be, Tems has notched a career mileage for winning a Grammy for her craft just as other contemporaries like Burna Boy and Wizkid.

The Afrobeat singer received the coveted award for Best African Music Performance for "Love Me Jeje". The interesting part of the category is that her song was nominated alongside songs like Burna Boy's 'Higher' and Chris Brown's 'Sensational' featuring Davido & Lojay, Yemi Alade's 'Tomorrow', and Wizkid's 'MMS'.

Tems' career took a leap of stardom in 2020 when she featured Wizkid on her hit song 'Essence'. The song performed impressively on the Billboard Hot 100 chart to peak at no. 9 and later earned her a Grammy Award nomination.

She was nominated in the 66th edition of the Grammy Awards last year for Best Song Written for Visual Media for her song, 'Lift Me Up.'
