Mo Salah Strikes Twices As Liverpool Claim Victory Against Bournemouth

Liverpool secured a convincing but hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, courtesy of Mohamed Salah contributing a brace at the Vitality Stadium. 

The Reds extended the lead to nine points clear at the top of the table, edging the side closer to claiming the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2019/2020.

Liverpool asserted their dominance from the get-go while the Cherries showed competence to snatch the lead with Kluivert forcing a save from Alisson into a spectacular save. Eventually, the deadlock was snapped as Cody Gakpo earned a penalty, which Salah converted to give the Reds the lead. 

The second half witnessed a more determined Bournemouth side, but Liverpool's defense, marshaled by the imperious Virgil van Dijk, held firm. Salah sealed the victory with the second goal, with a sublime curler into the top right corner. 

Having won, the Reds extended their unbeaten run to 19 Premier League games. The loss handed the Cherries their first defeat in the Premier League since November. It brought an end to their 10-match unbeaten run in the league. 

Overview 

Bournemouth's Semenyo was spectacular throughout the game, having lofty chances that could have made the day for the side. Another moment that the Cherries wasted was Kluivert kicking wide a rebound effort in front of the goal after Tavernier's shot that clipped the crossbar.
