Harry Maguire's Moment Gets Manchester United Off Hook

Harry Maguire made the day for Manchester United as they defeated Ipswich Town in a comeback by 3-2. The victory put the club in a position better off than they were coming into the game The defender's header that set the side ahead followed a couple of defensive errors that set United back.

Least of what Ipswich would have expected was a comeback victory from United instead of a loss following Dorgu's red card. The opposition took the lead four minutes into the game. It was as though the game would not go United's way from the get-go. By the way, the goal was from Dorgu's erroneous back pass to Andre Onana. To add salt to injury, he lunged into Hutchinson and was sent off the pitch.

Just like United's self-harming display, Ipswich had their moment as well. Sam Morsy's own goal from a header was not what Ipswich would like to see. he glided to contest with an opponent for the aerial ball from a corner but turned in a header,

If not for Morsy's error, Ipswich desperately needed to stay ahead to guarantee the maximum point to come out of the relegation zone. Jaden Philogene's brace could have secured that for them. Unfortunately, the tide would turn and it would be United's.

Though Maguire was United's hero, Bruno Fernandez was the prominent playmaker who crafted those set-pieces. He was directly involved in four goals including Morsy's - United scored the three goals from set-pieces. Being a center-back, much of his presence would be at the front except for set-pieces.

Fernandez is such an essential player to United that his absence can devastate the team. Christian Eriksen is another good midfielder but age is not on his side and he fatigues quicker than the Portuguese midfielder, who can go the full length of the game. Bear in mind that, United have a handful of players on the injury list. Kobbe Mainoo is one of those.

Back to the subject. Maigure helping in the attack in set-pieces may not often be productive  However, the tendency that he could pull off a stunner can put tension on the opposition. Recently, he has had near misses but his goal against Ipswich was well taken.
