Barcelona Are Back On Top of La Liga After Rayo Vallecano Defeat

Barcelona have regained the La Liga submit position after a 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano following a penalty awarded against Pathe Ciss.

Rayo were initially unimpressive from the get-go until they became fired up to reclaim level terms after Robert Lewandowski set the hosts in the lead. However, the goal came off a penalty drawn from Ciss' rough tackle on the Polish Inigo Martinez.

Robert Lewandowski rightly took the spot-kick, sending the ball down the bottom right as Batalla dived the other way.

Braca had their hands on the game until Lewandowski's penalty, Rayo gradually picked up the resilience and even got a goal but it was canceled for Nteka's offside. Before then, Rayo had caused a considerable scare and played deeper into Barcelona's half. Lamine Yamal was all over, assisting with recovering the ball in the backline and propelling the attacking line.

The opposing side was better off in the second half. They were athletic and creative on the frontline and maintained a strong defensive approach. They quelled Barcelona's aggression but could not compromise the hosts' defense line.
