Aston Villa Slug It Out With Liverpool To Force Draw

Aston Villa refuted losing at home to Liverpool and forced sharing points in a 2-2 draw with a comeback from a goal down to take a halftime lead before the Reds leveler from Alexander-Arnold.

Claiming the maximum points was important to the opposition, nevertheless, having to earn a point from the draw was fair enough, and further extended their unbeaten run to the 22nd game. As for Villa, the draw was something as they have been winless in three previous Premier League games.

Liverpool took the lead from a mistake by Villa's Garcia allowed Diogo Jota to slip the ball to Salah, who fired into an empty net with ease. Villa restored level terms as Marcus Rashford, the Villans' on-loan forward, swung in a delicious free-kick that caused chaos in the Liverpool box. The ball eventually fell to Youri Tielemans, who volleyed home with precision to restore Villa back into the game.

Villa took the halftime lead from Ole Watkin's header from Digne's cross. The comeback to see the game was canceled as the Reds seized a counter through the midfield and Mo Salah played in Alexander-Arnold, whose shot ricocheted off Tyrone Mings into the top corner of the goal.

Great attitude from the Villa, reacting quickly to the situation but a couple of errors could have proven costly, particularly from Szoboszlai's moment of playing Nunez that was wasted in front of the goal. Salah was impressive as always to the Reds' performance. However, Szoboszlai can not be overlooked for the goalscoring chances he facilitated though were wasted.

The game could have gone either way by the intensity of the game. Roger and Malen could have put the game to bed for Villa, especially the Dutch winger's last-minute effort that glided across the face of the goal but Allison was fully stretched to ensure it rolled out into safety.
