Arsenal Take Big Win Against Manchester City In Goal-Raid

At the earliest minutes of the game, Kai Havertz kicked off the campaign with a pass on the edge of the penalty teeing up Martin Odegaard, who from inside the box struck the ball into the unguarded net.

Although the Citizens kept possession of the ball for much of the time hence led to Savinho sending a superb cross into the box. Erling Haaland planted a header from a close range and scored the equalizer for the side in the second period. That was soon followed by Thomas Partey sending the Gunners back in the lead, curling an 18-yard shot to beat Ortega to the goal.

Myles Lewis-Skelly slipped the third goal in from the right wing, curling the ball past the goalkeeper and Kia added the fourth goal following a fast break. With added minutes left to play in the injury time, Ethan Nwaneri sealed the victory with the fifth goal, curling a shot to beat Ortega.

In terms of the Premier League, the Gunners are unbeaten in 14 matches with nine wins and five draws and have won the most points of any side from gameweek. The North Londoners have never had a longer unbeaten run under Mikel Arteta, last going 14 league matches without defeat between August and December 2018 under Unai Emery.

Manchester City are also starting to rediscover its best but yet to be enough for the Gunners. Their most recent triumph sealed their spot in the UEFA Champions League play-offs as they downed Club Brugge 3-1. It is unlikely they will defend the Premier League title, however, they might still finish in the top four.

Overview

Welcoming the champions, Manchester City to Emirates was a huge test of Arsenal's Premier League credentials and they lived up to the challenge. The Gunners, second in the EPL standings and  3-points adrift of Liverpool pre-round, look to be finding their groove again after a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions, which culminated in a 2-1 midweek win over Girona that secured them a UEFA Champions League last 16 berth.

Manchester City were porous enough for the Gunners to take advantage of. Skelly was left unmarked in between two oppositions and darted into the box barely challenged. Nathan Akanji's error could have been corrected but the defending was tacky enough for Arsenal to capitalize on.
