PSG Seize Thrilling Comeback To Edge Manchester City
Paris Saint-Germain pulled off a stunning comeback, defeating Manchester City 4-2 at the Parc des Princes. The second-half five-goal thriller was wrapped up with an injury time goal from Goncalo Ramos.
The first half was relatively tedious, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut opportunities. However, the match burst into life in the second half, with Manchester City taking the lead through Jack Grealish, who came in as a substitute.
Grealish's rebound goal set the Citizens ahead earlier into the second half and Erling Haaland doubled the scoresheet for his 47th Champions League goal in 46 appearances.
PSG bounced back with Bradley Barcola breaking into City's defense and releasing a pass to Ousmane Dembélé, who struck the side's first goal. The scoreline was leveled when Dembele's rebound shot landed on Bracola for a tap home on the hour.
Joao Neves put the French side ahead, nodding home Vitinha's cross from a free-kick before Ramos's curly shot beat Ederson and completed the comeback
The victory sent PSG out of the red zone as they took a leap to be in 22nd position while Manchester City dropped to 25th. Having to lose from 2+ goals is Manchester City's first in all competitions since 2021 against brighton & Hove in the Premier League.
Overview
It was an intriguing match that quickly changed tune after the halftime break. City's attempts to contain the Ligue 1 side after taking the lead soon fell out of hand with Barcola stealing the show for the side. Dembele was another important player for PSG, troubling the Citizens from the right side while Barcola came through the left.
The substitutions made by Pep Guardiola paid off with Grealish setting off the side in the lead, but the intention to keep possession and enjoy passes to slow down the pace was shoved out by the PSG, who counted on going on the counter. And, they carried out effectively.
