Mo Salah Opens Up On Future At Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has cleared the air on his future at Liverpool. He may have reached his spell limits at Anfield since he is making any headway on his contract extension with the club. Nevertheless, he is ready to leave the club to search for greener turf elsewhere.
As the new transfer window opens, there are speculations over Salah's future at the club over his contract extension - his current contract expires this summer. However, Salah wants out anyway, blaming the lack of "progress" on renewing his contract to stay for his decision.
"This is my last year at the club," Salah admitted speaking to Sky Sports. "There is no progress there, we are far away from any progress."
Since Liverpool won the Premier League in 2019/2020 under Jurgen Klopp, this season is the nearest they have come to lifting the silverware again, leading the EPL standings by six points clear nearest team. With just six months remaining to the end of the season, Salah stands to leave the club as a free agent.
He continues: "My motivation this year was to win a trophy and be a big part of winning that trophy, especially the Premier League. i still believe the team needs a trophy."
Even with the breakdown of talks over his contract extension, Salah remained a prominent figure in the squad having scored 17 goals in all competitions this season. Furthermore, the Reds are in the best form so far this season under Arne Slot, with Salah involved in 30 goals - through assists or goals - in the last 18 Premier League games.
