Manchester United Narrowly Ward Off Defeat To Rangers

 

Manchester United claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Rangers following an injury-time goal from Bruno Fernandes. The Red Devils are guaranteed to progress to the next stages of the competition. 

Christian Eriksen's corner set United ahead after Butland parried the aerial ball into his net. Dessers restored Rangers to level terms near the stoppage time, scoring from a fast break latching onto Tavernier's cross. Fernandes wrapped it up scoring the winning goal in the stoppages. 

Though United's performance in the domestic league has not been pleasant, Ruben Amorim seized the victory for his third straight win in the competition. Furthermore, they have been successful against any Scottish side in the last 20 games in European competition. 

Overview 

It was not an easy victory for United even as they fairly controlled the game but the Scottish side was unpredictable enough to cause surprises. Good goalkeeping from Bayindr. He made some great saves from the early stages and Dessers also forced saves from him. 

Garnacho showed great influence on the game. He had a couple of chances to put United ahead but appeared unlucky for not getting a goal. Fernandes was another significant player besides scoring the winning goal. The build-up to his goal was well crafted by Martinez and it could not be good enough.
