Manchester City Share Spoils With Brentford From Christian Norgaard's Injury Time Stunner

Brentford seized a late comeback effort to force a 2-2 draw against Manchester City, with Christian Norgaard's stunning header that ended the match to a draw.

The Citizens had taken a commanding lead after the first-half interval from Phil Foden's brace before Yoane Wissa led a comeback effort in the later stages and Norgaard pulled off the equalizer. Even with the outcome, the Cituzens yet maintained an unbeaten run, however, it does not look good for them in the EPL standings as they dropped to sixth.

Foden set the side ahead with the opener by tapping home Kevin de Bruyne's cross. He followed up with the second goal finishing Savinho's rebound shot following a fast break led by the Brazilian winger.

Brentford began the rally in the last eight minutes as Roerslev's cross from inside the box landed on Wissa, who was left unmarked and finished off the chance. The equalizer followed in injury time with Lewis-Potter's cross rightly headed home by Norgaard.

While the Citizens managed to maintain their unbeaten run in four Premier League games, it was their first draw from a two-goal lead in the Premier League since 2023.

Overview

It was a thrilling end to a game that narrowly slid into a draw, which for Manchester City was disappointing. But, for Brentford, it was a compliment to their efforts in a late comeback.

City let the game slide, to some extent for defensive flops, as they had the chance to seal it off in injury time. Erling Haaland's header that forced a save from Flekken was one of the remarkable moments in the added minutes they missed. At the same moment, Norgaard's header leveled the scoresheet.

It was not the late change by Pep Guardiola that led to the equalizer, rather it was defensive lapses from the Citizens to blame. Nevertheless, great effort from Foden for the brace. Until he was replaced, he was prominent in the game.

Just like Foden, Savinho was another prominent player in the game. The Brazilian continued to show a great impact on games from the left wing. Mbeumo did really well for Brentford. He maintained influence on the game throughout.
