Chelsea Fading Hopes of Title Challenge Dented At Selhurst Park

Chelsea's title challenge continues to wind in doubt after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace in a London derby at Selhurst Park.

Jadon Sancho set off the Blues early, making a neat fast break to find Cole Palmer with a pass inside the box. Palmer carefully struck home the opening goal. Palace later seized a floppy pass from Palmer to break into the box and Eberechi Eze's pass right met Mateta for a tap-in.

The Blues created enough chances to win the game but missed the goal. Robert Sanchez made some saves which were crucial to keep the Blues in the game until Mateta beat him to the goal.

Although Palace are not the best home team in the competition, they have fairly decent moments of form where it has managed to add points in 7 of its last 8 league games.

Overview

Chelsea showed great team chemistry in the first half but that soon dwindled after the interval, leaving Palace with room to work out an equalizer. As often expected. Mateta was significant during the game alongside Eberechi Eze. Jadon was another interesting figure in the game. However, the Blues had a handful of moments to have gone ahead and were not converted.
