Weston McKennie's Acrobatic Goal Leads Juventus to Beat Manchester City

Manchester City failed to win an important game at Allianz Stadium and lost 2-0 to Juventus in a delightful second-half rally for the Italians. The Citizens remained winless in two straight Champions League games and continued to suffer setbacks in the bid to qualify for the knockout stages.

Juventus waited until after the halftime break to break the deadlock as Dusan Vlahovic finished a rebound from Gatti's acrobatic shot, which Ederson saved to his reach to nod into the goal. Weston McKennie later seized an acrobatic shot to finish off Timothy Weah's lob following a fast break.

The victory extended Juventus' unbeaten run to six against Manchester City, whose manager Pep Guardiola has remained winless in three consecutive Champions League games (Sporting, Feyenoord, and Juventus). The Citizens are the defending champions of the Champions League trophy which they won for the first time in club history last season.

Pep Guardiola has not been finding things easier recently. The team had a string of losses before regaining their winning form against Nottingham Forest but that was shortlived with a draw against Crystal Palace. Consequently, losing to Juventus might further put the Spaniard manager under pressure.

Overview

An exciting game from the start with both barely finding space to make something out of until halftime when Juventus snatched the game to win convincingly. Weston McKennie as substitute worked out well for the Italians for having to complete the counter leading up to the goal.

The Italians stood the chance to win from the first period, considering their tenacity in getting into City's box. Erling Haaland was technically kept at bay, and even when Kevin de Bruyne tried to make a goalscoring connection to him, the Italians maintained staunch defense to keep the threat in check. For the Italians, it was a well-deserved victory.
