Manchester United Have Difficult Day Against Bournemouth At Old Trafford
Manchester United remained winless through two consecutive league games, losing woefully at Old Trafford to Bournemouth by 3-0. The loss further compounded their unimpressive run under Ruben Amorim.
Perhaps, the Portuguese manager is getting used to the pressure of becoming a manager in the Premier League, and allowing him time to settle might prove productive over time following his successes with Sporting. During the week, Tottenham eliminated the Red Devils from the EFL Carabao Cup in the quarter-final, forfeiting their silverware hope.
However, Bournemouth could not afford that patience on the pitch and took the lead through Dean Huijsen's header from a free-kick. The lead was doubled after halftime from a penalty awarded against Noussair Mazraoui before Antoine Semenyo tapped home Ouatara's cut-back to complete the scoresheet.
The victory handed Bournemouth the points required for a leap to fifth place on the table, leaving behind Aston Villa and Manchester City in the sixth and seventh position respectively. Meanwhile, United are not as good as their hope of moving up the stats is stalled, leaving them in 13th place with 22 points.
Overview
It is obvious that United desperately needed a sparkle to bring out the winning form in them. The Cherries broke through the hard-fought start to the game and found the set piece to set them ahead to win. The Red Devils' morale seemed good but winning games can be more impressive.
Initially, the Cherries had a tough game on their hands, Bruno Fernandez was out to cause a scare by forcing a save from Kepa; it seemed as if they were going to make a comeback to level the game after the Cherries took the lead. Conversely, they conceded even more after halftime following the reckless tackle that gave away a penalty to Kluivert.
