Manchester City And Crystal Palace Share Spoils At Selhurst Park
Manchester City winning form was halted at Selhurst Park where they drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace in a comeback from Rico Lewis' delightful finish. They later played 10-man in the closing stages.
With the likes of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Erling Haaland, Joachim Andersen, and Lewis all on target on both sides, it was an exciting game and such that could have gone either way.
The game got underway as Palace took the lead in the fourth minute through Munoz. However, City levelled on the half hour through Haaland. The hosts regained the lead after halftime via Lacroix's header and City pulled one back again to level through Lewis. He was later sent off late in the game for a controversial second yellow card, as City fought the final few minutes with 10 players.
City had just regained winning form after seven winless run in all competitions by defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0. The losses had set them back in the Premier League title race, giving the rooms to Liverpool to extend lead by wider margins.
Overview
City could only managed to share points with their hosts and it could not be compensating enough against the side that could have led by wider margins before Lewis' effort that restored the side by into the game.
Palace were tidy on their attacking moves, and with the likes of Matera and Sarr, having to going on a counter can be really effective for the side. Lerma wasted the scoring chance that would have going the side the lead going into halftime.
Munoz was the standout performer for Palace, scoring the opening goal and causing problems for the City defence throughout the match. Haaland also impressed, levelling the scores for City and Lacroix's goal came off a defensive flop following a corner. Similarly, Lewis was unmarked allowing to quickly latch onto the through pass that set off his goal.
