Gabriel Jesus Nets Double As Arsenal Massively Beat C. Palace
Crystal Palace conceded its second consecutive defeat to Arsenal, losing heavily by 5-1 at Selhurst Park to the Gunners with Gabriel Jesus contributing a brace to the scoresheet.
Arsenal set ahead with an opening goal through Jesus finishing off a header flick from Gabriel following a corner. Sarr restored Palace into the game delightfully firing Mitchell's assist home from inside the box.
Jesus later reclaimed the lead for Arsenal on the half-hour, steering the ball home into a difficult angle after Tomas Partey set him up for a strike. The Brazilian was later near completing a hat trick but the ball caught the goal frame for Kai Havertz to tap into the net.
Mateta's lofty scoring chance to reduce the deficit was saved and Arsenal extended the goals to fourth. Gabriel Martinelli deflected home Declan's goal-bound shot to keep safe ahead before Rice curled a superb right-footed into the left corner of the post for the Gunners' fifth goal.
Palace were eliminated from the EFL Carabao Cup earlier in the week and remained in 15th place in the Premier League. The Gunners maintained their place in third, closely trailing the nearest teams, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Overview
Palace did come in handy for Arsenal. They were helpless as the Gunners struck goals after halftime. The Eagles were well-dominated enough not to stop Arsenal from burrowing through the crowds and finding the net; from the center field to the back line.
Saka played a prominent role in setting the side in the lead with a well-intended cross for Gabriel to finish. Though he was later replaced with Leandro Trossard over an injury, the team was yet sound to thrash Palace. The hosts did not seem like the side that could cause Arsenal a scare; it was a game that Mateta and Sarr could make nothing out of notwithstanding their earlier impact.
