10-Man Liverpool Comeback Twice To Refute Defeat To Fulham
Liverpool came from behind twice to earn a hard-fought point against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Andreas Pereira and Rodrigo Muniz scored for Fulham, but Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota responded for Liverpool, who played out the final 35 minutes with 10-men after Andy Robertson's red card.
Fulham took the lead in the 11th minute through Andreas Pereira's acrobatic volley, but Liverpool's task was made more difficult six minutes later when Andy Robertson was shown a red card for a lunging tackle on Harry Wilson.
Despite being a man down, Liverpool levelled in the 47th minute through Cody Gakpo's header, but Fulham regained the lead in the 76th minute through Rodrigo Muniz's bundled effort. Liverpool continued to press and were rewarded with a late equalizer through Diogo Jota's brilliant finish in the 86th minute.
The Reds maintain their lead of the table despite the draw and have remained winless in two consecutive Premier League games. Meanwhile, Filham have dropped to 17th of the table.
Overview
Exhausting and exhilarating game it was for Liverpool. Still, a draw was better from the game that they played one-man for much of the game. Andy Robertson's tackle was avoidable but as he was the last man he was penalised for the tackle hence red card.
Fulham let the slide in a moment of poor defending that saw Diogo left unmarked to break in and leveled the game in the latter stages. Stepping up the offensive afte Fulham retook the lead worked out for Arne Slot. Diogo had only spent less than 0 minutes on the pitch to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold when he leveled the scoresheet. Diogo, for his late stunner, made his presence felt and was the Reds' hero.
