Manchester United convincingly thrashed Leicester City at Old Trafford by 3-0 as the Red Devils continue to climb up the ladder of the EPL table, with the second unbeaten game in the Premier League under outgoing interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
In a bid of a triumphant farewell to Nistelrooy, United are sending off the outgoing manager with four consecutive unbeaten runs in all competitions as incoming manager, Ruben Amorim is set to assume duty. Bruno Fernandes played a significant role in the victory, igniting the onslaught on his 250th appearance for the club. He delivered a masterclass performance, contributing two goals and an assist that settled the game for United.
Fernandez set the visitors reeling with the opening goal, neating steering home Amad's backheel pass from inside the box. The lead later doubled from his header as Leicester's Victor Kristiansen unwittingly deflected the ball home for an own goal. The third goal took time, and in the latter stages, but from a satisfying build up as Alejandro Garnacho curled a stunning right-footed shot into the top corner of the goal.
Even at winning his fourth game for United, Nistelrooy brought his role at the club to a close as Ruben Amorim will assume the role of manager on a permanent contract from Monday. Meanwhile, the loss brought Leicester's winless run against United to four consecutive defeat under Steve Cooper.
