Premier League: Arsenal Woes Persist With Defeat At Newcastle

Newcastle United defended resolutely to secure 1-0 victory over Arsenal, as the Gunners continued to suffer huge setbacks to their quest to contend for the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal had made an impressive start with Bukayo Saka blasting a shot just wide of the post after 11 minutes. Newcastle soon responded by taking the lead following Anthony Gordon's cross that found Alexander Isak for a neat finish. Isak leapt high behind Gabriel and headed the ball past Raya into the top corner of the net.

Arsenal pushed hard for an equalizer, but Newcastle's defense held firmly. The Gunners were finding it hard to get past the Toon without getting fouled, but they kept going forward.

Arsenal found a couple of moments to pull one back but unsuccessful amongst which was Saka's brilliant cross right in front of the Newcastle goal, but Schar got the first touch and somehow managed to get it over the bar.

The Magpies managed to hold through the second half to secure the maximum points. The outcome further worsened Arsenal's progress, losing for the second time in their last three Premier League games. For losing the maximum points, Arsenal now trail the table summit by wider margin.

Further more, the defeat marks Arsenal's second consecutive Premier League loss, leaving them winless in their last two games. The Gunners will be looking to bounce back from this setback and get back to winning ways in their next match.

Overview

Newscatle considerably made Arsenal to play to their tune for much of the second half. It was technically impermeable for Arsenal to get around the Magpies' defend even as they attempted to exploit the left wing through Leandro Trossard. Longstaff was just in their way assisting with the defense.

Gordon was very prominent in the game as against Kai Havertz who was not giving much chances to cause a scare if not to score. The Magpies maintained counter approach with Gotdon and Joelinton in view while playing deep into their own halve for much of the second half.

However, there were more bookings than real scoring chances. Martinelli and Merino made way for Zinchenko and Ethan Nwaneri, and immediately drew a cynical foul from Willock which resulted in yet another yellow card.
