Patrick Vieira Gets New Job With Italian Club
Patrick Vieira has found a new job just few months after he resigned from his role at Strasbourg on mutual agreement, ending his three-year contract abruptly.
Genoa that are currently struggling in the Italian Serie A, have completed plans to hire the former Crystal Palace manager as the new manager to replace Alberto Gilardino. Vieira had only spent a season in his contract at Strasbourg before stepping down in the summer.
Gilardino was sacked over the club's performance, which has seen the side dropped to 17th on the table. The team has only won two games in all 12 league games played this season, leaving the side with 10 points and on the brink of sliding down to the relegation zone.
The Italian side is reportedly looking forward to completing a two-year contract with the Frenchman, which also includes an option for a season extension. Vieira is expected to travel to the club to completed deal for his new job on Wednesday.
As Vieira is set to assume duty at Genoa, the move is expected to set up a reunion for him with his former player at Nice, Mario Balotelli. The pair did not have a pleasant relationship at Nice, where Balotelli had his contract terminated over dispute with Vieira.
