Europa League: Mats Hummels' Stoppage Stunner Levels Up Roma To Tottenham
Roma held on to the stoppages to share Spoils in their Europa League encounter with Tottenham in a 2-2, that canceled out the Spurs lead following Mats Hummels' late stunner that turned the game around.
Heung min Son did the Spurs the needful earlier in the game, setting the side ahead by scoring from a penalty. That was later followed by an equalizer from Roma with Ndicka nodding home Dybala's cross.
The game went on further, interestingly after halftime, to witness another goal from the Spurs as Brennan Johnson smacked home on first touch from Kulusevski's cross inside the box. Hummels in the added minutes, pounced home the equalizer following a corner in the stoppages.
Should there have been a winning side, that should have been Tottenham. Roma who have not won any away games in all competitions in this season, in the end, managed to refute a loss at Tottenham and managed to come out of the red zone by moving up to 21th of the standings.
Overview
Contrary to what the outcome look, Tottenham did not just let it slide, Roma came out stronger in the second period and had a couple of goals ruled out for offside until they eventually found the goal that settled the game in a draw.
Spurs had a handful of chance to have set the side clearly ahead in the early stages, and probably could have deterred the resilience from the Italians. However, that was not the case following a good goalkeeping from Svilar and well -conducted attacking approach that warded off the Spurs.
