CAF Releases 5-Man Shortlist For Player of the Year Award

 

As the shortlist for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) player of the year award was released on Monday, some notable names missed out, and at the same time, notable name like Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman made it to the final 5-man list released . 

The governing body had earlier released a 10-man list for the award, which had the likes of Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, and Victor Boniface included, and now,. did not make the final list. For Osimhen, who won the award last year, he missed out.  His last season at Napoli wasnot pleasants leading to his move to Galatarasy. 

Lookman stands the chance to notching enough votes to clinch the award even though Nigeria finished behind Cote d'Ivore in the 2023 AFCON Cup and Adingra played a significant role in that final. However, in term over all performance through the tournament, Lookman stood out. 

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Marrakech, Morocco on December 16. See below for the full list:
