Premier League: Arsenal Have It Bad At Brentford
Justin Kluivert set off the hosts' break from the deadlock, he picked out Ryan Christie from a corner inside the box, and on his first touch, Ryan curled the ball into the top left corner. Bournemouth seized another defensive error to drawn a penalty and Kluivert converted for two-goal lead.
One of Arsenal's closest chance came before Bournemouth's but Gabriel Martinelli drew a save from Kepa Arrizabalaga instead. Subsequent changes made by Arsenal did pay off and Bournemouth won the game to end the Gunners' unbeaten run.
Arsenal have been unbeaten against Bournemouth six years and that changed after the hosts secured their second victory. Besides its impact on the Gunners Premier League title quest, the defeat is the second they have conceded in 2014.
Overview
It was quite an unfortunate match for Arsenal, and that to some extent, was their own makings. Essentially, Arsenal gave away a game that was important to their Premier League title race after they had dropped four points from playing draws against Brighton and Manchester City.
Playing 10-man from the red card offence drawn from Saliba's tackle on Evanlison had cost the side direly until Jakub Kiwior's erroneous back pass made it worse. The Brazilian was technical for having to draw a penalty from the clumsy moment for Kluivert to score from. All these happened just after the moment Martinelli wasted an opportunity.
Having to lose the game might have just handed Manchester City and Liverpool the breakaway chance to remain atop the table for a title contest. Already, Arsenal have Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard ruled out. Obviously, Arsenal have a situation on their hands.
