Jannik Sinner Pulls Out Of Paris Masters

Jannik Sinner has pulled out of participating in Paris Masters over a brief illness, which he confirmed happened during his training session ahead of the tournament.

Barely a week ago, the world number one had just won the inaugural Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia. Before that, he won the Shanghai Masters for his third ATP Masters 1000 trophy of the season. He has been in his top form so far this season.

"This is not an easy announcement to make. My team and I arrived early to prepare as best as possible, but unfortunately, I started feeling unwell during training and saw the doctor on Sunday," he wrote in a tweet via X.

Paris Masters is the closing Masters event of the season and Jannik is the top seed followed by Carlos Alcaraz in second and Alexander Zverev in third. At the last year's event, Jannik walked away from his match against Alex de Minaur in round of 16.

He added: "I’m feeling better now, but I’m still not ready to compete here in Paris. I was really looking forward to this tournament, so it’s disappointing, to say the least. For now, I’m focusing on recovery and getting back to 100%. I’ll be aiming to come back stronger for Turin!"

Participating in Paris Masters would have been the Italian's second of his career. He was scheduled to meet either Ben Shelton or Felix Auger-Aliassime in his first match, and just as him, Felix had withdrawn from the tournament over the weekend. The Canadian blamed his decision on his fitness following "some pain in his back" which he wrote in a tweet might impede on him to perform at the level" he wanted.
