FIFA Sanction Samuel Eto'o Over Misconduct

Former Barcelona striker and Cameroon football legend, Samuel Eto'o has been handed six-month ban by FIFA following an unacceptable misconduct during the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup.

The ban was confirmed by the FIFA disciplinary committee to be with immediate effect and can be appealed by the player. The decision meant that the former captain of the Indomitable Lions will be prohibited from attending any matches – men or women and of any age category – but the sanction does not affect his role as Fecafoot president.

Eto'o was disciplined following his conduct over a penalty given against his country's women's team, leading to Brazil's comeback to win by 3-1 in the extra-time during the last-16 of the FIFA U20 Women's World Cup.

A lot have been going wrong with the former Inter Milan striker lately. He disagreed with his country’s sports ministry earlier this year, on the appointment of Belgian Marc Brys as the men’s head coach.

The four-time AFCON player of the year has been president of Fecafoot since 2021 and his reputation has suffered a couple of setbacks recently even with the Confederation of African Footbal.
