Champions League: Barcelona Leave Bayern Munich Stunned In Goals Thriller

Bayern Munich were dealt a massive humiliating 4-1 defeat by Barcelona, courtesy of Raphinha's sparkling hat-trick, ending the side's winless run against the Germans in the UEFA Champions League.

The hosts ignited the contest just in the first minute as Fermín López's pass found Raphinha alone in the box. The Brazilian maestro rounded Manuel Neuer and slotted home with ease, sparking jubilation throughout the stadium.

Bayern unleashed a relentless onslaught, dominating muc of the earlier stages, pushing  Barcelona's resolve to the limit. In the mix of that comes Harry Kane's disallowed header and later his jaw-dropping volley that leveled the scoresheet for the Germans.

Barcelona later regained control despite Bayern's intense pressure and Robert Lewandowski tapped home Fermín's assist to restore the lead, rekindling the home fans' hopes. Raphinha's sublime solo effort doubled the advantage before halftime, sending Montjuïc into raptures and leaving Bayern Munich reeling.

Raphinha sealed his hat-trick from Yamal's cross-pitch lob with a rocket finish minutes before an hour of play, leaving Bayern Munich demoralized and the Barcelona faithful ecstatic.

Barcelona soar to 10th place in the UEFA Champions League's phase standings, ending a successive six game defeat to the Germans in the UEFA Champions League. Just as the hat-trick is Raphinha's first in this campaign, he became the fourth to score 3+ goal against Bayern in a European competition.

Overview

Great start from Barcelona and it could not be better with Raphinha's hat-trick that helped contained the Germans from the first half. The Brazilian really had a field day, getting the needed aerial balls to get him into the space an attack and he did marvelously right with those moments.

Conversely, it was quite unlucky game for Bayern to have had an earlier goal from Harry Kane ruled out and another moment when Guerrero was dropped in the box that was not given as a penalty. There were not much Bayern could do since they trailed as the hosts recoiled to their peculiar style of play of short passes to keep their opponents deep into their own halve.

The Catalan giants expertly managed the game, nullifying the visitors' threats and cementing their dominance. Obviously, credit to Yamal for his contributions to the game. However, Raphinha was the standout player of the game.
