Raheem Sterling Finds Long-Awaited Goal For Arsenal
The dim limelight of Raheem Sterling's career might have just gotten the ignition needed to fire it up as the forward scored his first goal for Arsenal in the side's 5-1 humiliation of Bolton Wanderers in the Carabao EFL Cup third round match.
Sterling joined the North Londoners in the summer after his spell at Chelsea but hasn't found the back of the net until the Gunners hosted Bolton on Wednesday. Bukayo Saka set that up for him with his cross that landed rightly enough for him to respond to and tap home for Arsenal's third goal.
To bring his impressive form to reckoning, he also assisted with Kai havertz's goal that wrapped up the game. Having said that, Ethan Nwaneri was another player with impressive performance on the night. It was his first starting lineup game for Arsenal and he seized that to make an impact on the game scoring two goals.
Bolton displayed perpetual resistance, counting on going on counter-attacks which their opponents' defense were able to stem repeatedly. They eventually found a consolation goal from a counter for Aaron Collins to finish past Jack Porter.
The Wanderers did have some tricks up their sleeves. They even came closest to making an early breakthrough, with John McAtee crossing from the right for Scott Arfield to hook the ball over the bar from close range.
Arsenal advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a convincing 5-1 win over Bolton Wanderers, courtesy of a blend of youngsters and experienced players at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners' attacking flair was on full display, with Declan Rice, Ethan Nwaneri (2), Raheem Sterling, and Kai Havertz all finding the back of the net.
Maldini Kacurri, Ismeal Kabia, and Josh Nichols made their senior debuts, while Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly impressed.
