N. Forest Claim Important Victory Against Liverpool At Anfield
Nottingham Forest claimed historic victory at Anfield, dealing a devastating loss to Liverpool's impressive form since the start to the season, with a 1-0 loss to their opponents.
Liverpool have not lost in Premier League games at Anfield to Forest in a long time but a fast break in the second half set Forest off for victory with Callum Hudson-Odoi curling home the ball from the counter.
Luis Diaz had the first major chance in the first. He chased a lost cause, won the ball high up the pitch, and hit the post with a low effort. Alexis Mac Allister also twice tested Matz Sels in the first half and his header almost led to a horrendous mistake. The goalkeeper claimed the ball, then dropped it and almost backheeled it into his own net.
Nuno Espirito Santo continues to reshape a squad which has seen so much turnover across the last campaigns with likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood. Forest maintained a remarkably strong defensive performance forcing Arne Slot to his first competitive defeat as manager.
Overview
Liverpool did everything right and Forest's defence was formidable enough to hold off the Reds' attack in their box. Luis Diaz was close to pulling off the lead goal for Reds but his attempt bounced off the goal frame.
Conversely, Forest made their counter plan pay off. The build up to the winning couldn't be better with Elanga's cross-field pass that cut-out three defenders and Callum Hudson-Odoi did justice to that assist, sending the side through for their first win at Anfield in 55 years.
