Jannik Sinner Beats Taylor Fritz To Win Maiden US Open Title

Jannik Sinner has for the first time in his career, won the US Open for his second Grand Slam title on hard-court this season after his first at the Australian Open.

Sinner defeated American opponent, Taylor Fritz in three-set, 6-3 6-4 7-5 and ended the 12th seeded player's quest to be the first American to win the US Open in 21 years after Andy Roddick.

But, Fritz did impressively in the final, he managed to rally in the first and second sets to keep level with Sinner. The Italian seemed to have experience on his side and break in his rally to win both sets for 2-0 lead.

Just as Sinner was able to hold off a rally from Fritz in earlier sets, he did the same in the decider after the American had a break to take 3-5 lead, he rallied to win four straight games to claim the  championship point.

Fritz attempted deploying deep shots and volleys but quickly waned midway of the decider against the Italian's resilience. The match was the duo third head-to-head meeting with Sinner having most wins by 2:1.
