Is Manchester City On Course To Snap EFL Cup Drought?

For two seasons now, one silverware has eluded Manchester City despite the combo of trophies they have been aquire to themselves within the same period. Having reached the fourth round of the Carabao EFL Cup, could this time be to snap the evasive trophy?

City hosted the Championship club Watford, winning by 2-1 after an extreme draw against Arsenal at Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with two goals from both sides as Erling Haaland of the hosts scored an early goal with a great finish assisted by Savinho and the second goal was from John Stones in the added time that wrestled a point for City.

Against Watford, they made wholesale changes to the team against the visitors, and even at that, they were dominant as they cruise to a victory at the Etihad. Watford try to mount a slightly more aggressive approach, nonetheless. They almost levelled the scores moments later but referee David Webb deemed Kwadwo Baah's barged on 16-year-old debutant Kaden Braithwaite to be a foul.

City, however, came out early to take the lead in not more than five minutes after the first half began. From Jack Grealish's pass that set off Jérémy Doku to steer home the opening goal to Rico Lewis' through ball to Matheus Nunez to blast home the second goal from outside the box, City seized the control of the game.

Despite a late scare through Tom Ince's lovely consolation for Watford, although after the break, City continued to dominate. but Watford's substitutions ensured the game was a little more open, leading to Tom Ince pulling one back for the side in the last minutes.
