Emmy Awards: Shogun Tops Stack For Historic Wins

 


It was a big night and big historic wins for the Japanese drama, Shogun at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on Sunday, which was hosted by Keegan-Michael Key at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Even as Shōgun topped nomination with 25 nods, it went on rake in the most honour with 18 awards at the ceremony. Amongst the awards received was best lead actor in drama, best drama, and best director. The film set a new record for most Emmys in a single television year. 

British series artistes were also part of the winner. Richard Gadd's series, Baby Reindeer was part of big winners, and likewise, Hacks for which Hannah Einbinder won best supporting actress in a comedy. 

Hiroyuki Sanada won the best lead actor for Shogun and he is the first Japamese actor with an Emmy in the category. In his acceptance speech, Hiroyuki expressed gratitude to his team and family, dedicating his award to his co-star Anna Sawai. Jean Smart praised the entire Hacks crew, emphasizing the importance of female-led storytelling.
