Champions League: Inter Milan Force Point Off Man City In Opening Goal

It was an exhausting game and Inter Milan managed to force a point off Manchester City following a goalless draw at Etihad Stadium in the UEFA Champions League opening game.

City, as they would, played all out deep into their opponents' halve and were nervous with staunch defense from Inter especially from the goalkeeper, Yann Sommer. The Italians played well enough to compel City to play to their tune of the game.

Pep Guardiola's intentions to reinforce the attack, replacing Bernando Silva with Jeremy Doku, nearly paid off as the Belgian was involved in Gvardiol's near chances saved by Sommer - there were two of those near the stoppage time.

Inter did not just played defensively, they intended to catch City on the counter and they had handful of those moments. Thuram made an effective contributions to force a counter and when Lautaro Martinez replaced him, the Argentine played his part but City's defense remained resolute.

Erling Haaland and Phil Foden also had moments to make attempts at the goal, forcing brilliant saves from Sommer. It was shared spoils for both sides as they earned a point apiece from the draw, extending City's unbeaten run in the Champions League to 24 games.
