Kunle Afolayan Reveals New "Heights" Aníkúlápó Series Is Exploring, Moves Filming To New Location

 

Kunle Afolayan’s Aníkúlápó was a success, giving it wide acceptance to series, the filmmaker is exploring new grounds and a dive into new territories an the mystery surround the story of Saro and his adventures unfolds. 

As Kunle announced on his social media handle, the making of the series has reached advanced stage having completed the filming in Nigeria. Hence, the production crew he appointed out moving to Ghana to continue the filming.

"Aníkúlápó has just wrapped up filming in Nigeria and we're off to Ghana," he wrote alongside a video update. "This season is diving deep into the untold story of the slave trade and African unity. Stay tuned as we take this journey to new new heights - Ghana here we come."

Kunle's attempt to build on the success of its predecessor by introducing new subplots and characters is paying off, but this has made it more difficult  for everyone to keep up with the original story.

While the miniseries has its strengths, including a diverse and talented cast, it may require extra effort from everyone evolving to fully appreciate its immersive nature.

Flash back At first, Aníkúlápó talks about how a kings youngest wife fell in love with Saro - a bachelor - who was sent on exile and died, in order to revive him the kings youngest wife which he loved used mystical powers to bring him back to life and they decided to move to a far away village.

In his usual nature, Saro looks to outsmart and becomes a human again. Saro begins his life’s journey. This time, he goes to Ilu Aje, where he meets a new friend, Kekere, who helps him find a job, but he finds himself burdened with three reclaimed souls now leash to him.

we learn how Saro became blinded by his pride after Arolake had given him the power to resurrect dead people. Completely forsaking Arolake's contribution to his life, he became ignorant of her and married other women, ultimately breaking Arolake's heart.

In a turn of events, Bashorun’s pursuit of power and wealth leads to his demise. His misled actions, driven by self-interest, result in an attack by the warriors of Ede, ultimately leading to be conflicted about his tragic end and the consequences of his choices.

On the other hand  Bashorun became the antagonist that one can barely determine exactly who the protagonist is between Saro and Arolake.

And Bashorun character is with a piercing gaze apparent; despite his role as the antagonist, he is the epic centre of the sequel

In transitioning from the original movie to the sequel, maintains a diverse and engaging cast spanning several generations of Nollywood actors like Kunle Remi as Saro, Bimbo Ademoye as Arolake, Sola Sobowale as Awarun, and Taiwo Hassan as Alaafin Ademuyiwa take centre stage in the story; the sequel introduces a notable ensemble talented actors like Jide Kosoko, Gabriel Afolayan, Adewale Elesho, Uzee Usman, and Lateef Adedimeji are joining the narrative.

Although, the series also features the presence of Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Moji Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, Adeniyi Johnson, Funky Mallam, Sokoto Alabgedeorun, Ropo Ewenla, Olayiwola Razaq Olasunkanmi, Kayode Aderupoko, Damilola Ogunsi, Adebayo Salami, Oyindamola Sanni, Sunday Omobonlale, Latorera Oyinda , Titi Kuti and many more.
