Paris 2024: Keely Hodgkinson Wins Great Britain's First Athletic Gold
For the first time at the on-going Olympic Games in Paris, Great Britain's Keely Hodgkinson has won an athletic gold medal in the women's 800-meter for the country. She well dictated the pace to finish quickest for the medal ahead of stronger contenders like Ethiopia's Tsige Duguma and Kenya's Mary Moraa.
Making the podium was not Keely's first time as she is a silver medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and likewise from the world championships. Though, Duguma had first gone ahead before Keely paced up, she held on to finish in 1:56.72s for gold. Duguma won the silver in a time of 1:57.15s while Kenya's Moraa won bronze.
There are yet more athletic events coming up and the country had earlier won bronze from mixed 4x400-meter relay. Dina Asher-Smith missed out on women's 100-meter but will be participating in the women's 200-meter.
