Mikel Merino Finalises Deal On Transfer To Arsenal
Arsenal have completed the signing of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad for £31.6 million as they look to bolster their options in the midfield.
The Gunners have had an impressive start to the new season and the points are coming in from their previous games, which they won on clean sheet. The club manager Mikel Arteta yet expected the team to be "significantly stronger" with the signing of the Spaniard.
"Mikel will make our squad significantly stronger," said Arteta. "With his technical ability, together with his strong and positive character and personality."
Arsenal are reportedly expected to make an initial payment of £27.4m and the remainder will be as add-ons. The four-year contract also comes with an extension option for a season.
The Spaniard will join in midfield roles players likes of Declan Rice and Thomas Partey, who scored the winning goal for Arsenal against Aston Villa over the weekend.
