Kylian Mbappe Gets Perfect Start As Real Madrid Win UEFA Super Cup

Kylian Mbappe got off to a good start with Real Madrid on his debut, leading the side to lift the UEFA Super Cup, which they won by 2-0 against Atalanta on Tuesday.

Real were the winners of the Champions League, which clinched from the defeat of Borussia Dortmund in the final last season for a record 16th time. By that, they are qualified to play the Super Cup against Atalanta, the winners of the UEFA Europa League tournament.

The final was such an exciting game and goals did not coming in until the second half. On the hour of play, Real broke the deadlock with Federico Valverde tapping home Vinicius' cut-back. Mbappe got his slice of the game, doubling the lead later on by curling Jude Bellingham's cross into the top right of the goal.

Real for much of the game were well coordinated despite having such array of stars in the team. They potentially could have won by better margin. Atalanta did not play poorly in spite of the quality of players that Real had at the front.

Mbappe was just signed to the side after he left his former club, Paris St-Germain as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract. The amount involved in the contract massive but at a wage-cut from what he earned in Paris. For a lengthy contract of five-year, the French striker is set to earn more than £12m per annum. Thus, having to score on his debut is the club getting their money's worth.
