Israel Adesanya Losses UFC Middleweight Fight To Dricus Du Plessis
Having to reclaim winning form in UFC fights seemed to have become an uphill task for Israel Adesanya, and for a while now, he has not reclaimed the feat of a champion. He lost again even in his fight for UFC 305 middleweight belt against Dricus Du Plessis on Saturday night.
To the surprise of the crowd, Adesanya submitted in the fourth-round after being choked by the South African. The fight was well in favour of Adesanya before a couple of punches rattled his face, rendered him harmless, and Dricus took the advantage of making a rear-naked choke on him. It was a suffocating hold on the Nigerian-born fighter.
Adesanya lost his previous fight against Alex Pereira, and as for him, lossing to Dricus was by "mistake" which he believed his rival capitalised on to turn the fight around and claimed a stunning victory. Even as the turnaround was in the fourth-round, Dricus yet had the better of the score cards from the judges by margins.
"I don't thinl I was rocked," said Adesanya. "I don't know what mistake I made because I tried to turn into him, but then he got on my back because I was using the fence maybe?
For the second fight in a row, Adesanya has remained winless. He lost his previous fight against Alex Pereira in second-round knockout, and this time against Dricus, in foruth-round submission. He now has a total of 24 victories, four losses and no draw.
