Angelique Kidjo To Drop New Single Featuring Davido

Least of what anyone would have expected, Angelina Kidjo is collaborating with Davido on an upcoming single. For the award-winning artist, he is excited about the project, calling it a "honour" to work with 64-year-old, who is a Beninese-French singer-songwriter, actress and activist noted for her diverse musical influences and creativity on her single titled, “Joy”.

Following a tweeted on his X handle, “It was an honour working with the legend Angelique kidjo on "Joy”, said Davido as the announcement sparked conversations over his desire to edge his Grammy chances through collaboration with the five-time winner.

The fact that the single is also set to drop on the date of the Grammy entry deadline for 2024 added to the speculation that Davido had his eyes on the golden gramophone. However, Angelina Kidjo extended her gratitude to Davido and hopes that the song can bring the world together for a moment of joy.

Davido made his Grammy mark in 2023 when he was nominated for Best Global Album for his fourth album Timeless, Global Song Performance for 'Feel', and Best African Song Performance for 'Unavailable' featuring Musa Keys.

While Davido lost out at the 66th Grammys, the three nominations were a giant stride for the hitmaker who appears poised to secure another nomination courtesy of his collaboration with the 5-time winner, Angélique Kidjo.

The date set for the single, Joy release is on Friday, 30th of August, 2024.
