Wimbledon: Carlos Alcaraz Defeat Daniil Medvedev For Straight Second Final Face Off With Novak Djokovic

Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning champion of the tournament has edged into the final for the second consecutive time and is scheduled to meet world number two, Novak Djokovic at the Centre Court on Sunday.

Daniil Medvedev lost out in the semi-final against the Spaniard in four-set 6-7(1) 6-3 6-4 6-4. It was such a match that Medvedev set out to dictate and he was off for a neat win of the opening before Alcaraz rallied from 5-3, claimed his first break and leveled up 5-5 to force a tiebreak. The remaining sets were largely dictated by Alcaraz as Medvedev waned.

In a separate match, Djokovic outlasted Italian ace Lorenzo Musetti in straight three-set 6-4 7-6(2) 6-4 and that put him up for what could be said to be a rematch with Alacarz, who defeated him last year on his maiden appearance.

Meanwhile, the second seeded-player, Djokovic has had seemingly off days from the court following the pulling out of Alex de Minaur from the tournament over an injury sustained during his match against Arthur Fills in the quarterfinal.

Djokovic, a seven-time champion will be making his tenth appearance in Wimbledon final and clincling the trophy will be record-leveling with Roger Federer, who is the biggest winner with eight titles. Also, that will extend his Grand Slam title to 25th for all-time biggest winner.
