Paris 2024: Nigerian Athlete Cries Out Over Name Omission As Teams Rake In Medals

Nigerian athlete, Favour Ofili has cried out over the omission of her name from women's 100-meter at the Paris Games. which she has blamed on the country's Athletics Federation and Olympic organising committe for not signing her on.

Since the start of the Games, Nigeria have not won any medal and this can be attributed to the sports that are on-going which are not peculiar to the country at the Olympics. However, Ofili will be participating in women's 200-meter and 4x100-meter relay. She stands to miss out on 100-meter unless the situation is rectified.

"I qualified but those AFN (Athletics Federation of Nigeria) and NOC failed to enter me,"she wrote of X otherwise known as Twiiter. "I have worked for four years to earn opportunity. For what?"

Meanwhile, many teams are already counting their medals at the Games and the tallies are changing for their respective countries. China and Japan have proven to be dominant at the Games leading with 8 gold medals apiece.

AMen's Atistic Gymnastics which China dominated at the Tokyo Games has switched places as the Japanese team won fourth straight gold at the event with Shinnosuke Oka in men's all-round final. Though, China followed in second with Zhang Boheng for silver and Xiao Ruoteng in third for bronze.

In other separate events, Great Britain defended its title in men's swimming 4x200m freestyle relay where they won gold, outperforming the United States who took the silver and Australia had the bronze.
