Paris 2024: China Gets Off To Claim First-two Gold Medals As Divers Yasmin And Scarlet Win Great Britain's First Medal

 


China has taken a leap ahead at the Pris Olympic Games, claiming gold medals from rifle shooting and women's synchronised 3-meter springboard while Scarlet Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper won bronze for the first medal for Team GB in springboard. 

Hang Yuting and Sheng Lihao defended the medal for China and outclassed other contenders by four-points (16-12) to claim the gold. Y.N Chang and Y Chen also lived up to the challenged from the United States and Great Britain scoring most points, 337.68 to claim gold medals in the women's synchronised 3-meter springboard. 

The United States has one medal from the silver won for 3-meter springboard diving by Kassidy Cook and Sarah Bacon. Likewise, South Korea joined the medals standing with the silver medal won by Keum Jihyeon and Park Hajun in rifle shootings.

Having won the gold medal in Tokyo, China have retained the gold medal from rifle shooting. Ahead of the Games, Chen and Chang were the favourites for the top prize and have remained unbeaten at global events, winning the gold medal at the world championship for three consecutive times, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
