Euro 2024: Spain Are Champions After England Defeat

Spain are the champions of the UEFA Euro 2024 for the fourth time after making away with a comeback that settled the final against England in 2-1 victory in Berlin, Germany.

England conceded the opening goal after a goalless first half from Nico William's strike from inside the box from Lamine Yamal's through pass and the Three Lions equalized as Bukayo Saka's pass rightly found Jude Bellingham, who poked the ball over to Cole Palmer to steer through to the goal.

With minutes left to the stoppages, the Spaniards retook the lead as Mikel Oyarzabal did a one-two pass with Marc Cucurella and completed the effort slide-footing home the defender's cross from close range.

Through the tournament, Spain were unbeaten through their games which is unprecedented in the championsip history. In contrast, England were in the final for the second time in a row and have lost back-to-back and that is the first time for any national team in the UEFA European Championship .

England did play really well but the lost was to a much better side, Spain who exploited every inch of the pitch and found moments that paved the way to the victory. Nico William was left unmarked the moment that Lamine Yamal broke past England defence and set him off for the strike.

Another interesting moment was Dani Olmo saving a crucial moment of England's comeback to level the scoresheet from Marc Guehi's header> It is fair to recall that the impact of the teenage forward, Lamine was plausible to the team and he was named the best young player of the tournament.
