Euro 2024: Ollie Watkins' Goal Sees England Through To Final
England are through to the Euro 2024 final and will play against Spain after they come from behind to defeat the Netherlands 2-1 from Ollie Watkins' stoppage time goal in the semi-final in Dortmund.
The Dutch led the game from the earlier stages as Xavi Simons snatched the ball off Declan Rice and smashed a long range slide shot to beat Jordan Pickford. England later equalized from a penalty drawn by Harry Kane which the forward scored from.
As the game progressed to the stoppages, the Three Lions took the lead as Watkins broke into the Dutch defence from Cole Palmer's through pass and smashed the ball diagonally into the bottom right of the goal.
The victory sealed England's place in the final and their first ever in a foreign soil. The final will be their second in four major tournaments under Gareth Southgate. - their first was at the 2020 Euros.
Overview
For the start, England seemed a little anxious and dropped too far out for the Dutch to break into the box and get the ball past Pickford. Until Depay Memphis was replaced, the Dutch seemed exhausted from the game. They later picked up on the game after Kane's equalizer, Southgate in the end delivered the victory with his substitutions and the Three Lions dictated the game better than their opponents..
