Copa America: Uruguay To Miss Final As Colombia Will Face Argentina
Uruguay failed to beat 10-man Colombia, losing 1-0 to be eliminated in the Last 4 as the latter progressed to meet Argentina in the Copa America final.
Jefferson Lerma set Colombia in the lead scoring from a set piece nodding home Rodriguez's corner. The game later became somewhat physical leading to Daniel Munos getting red carded, and after the game was over, Guillermo Valera was Red carded after fight broke out between the teams.
There were handful of moments for the Uruguayan side to comeback into the game after their opponents dropped down to 10-man but credit to good defensive approach from Colombia and Camilo Vargas' saves.
It almost got worse for the Uruguayans as the Colombians nearly extended the lead on counters. Carlos Castano missed scoring from inside the box from a defensive error near the stoppages.
Liverpool man, Luis Diaz had an interesting game, even after he was replaced, he remained anxious to see the side get past their opponents to the final. Darwin Nunez and former Barcelona forward, Luis Suarez did have handful of chances they didn't convert. Colombia scaled through maintaining unbeaten run through 28 games and this is the farthest they've come in any major tournament.
