Euro 2024: France Progress To Knockouts As Poland Force Draw From Robert Lewandowski's Goal

 



France have reached the knockout stage of the UEFA Euro 2024, and they have done so in second place behind Austria, after 1-1 draw against Poland in the final group game in Dortmund, Germany.

Poland had trailed from Kylian Mbappe's penalty shortly after halftime before Robert Lewandowski rescued point for the side, scoring from a penalty he drew from Dayot Upamecano's tackle inside the box. 

In a separate match, Austria claimed hard-fought 3-2 victory against Netherlands and finished with 6 points in the top spot of Group D. In spite as the defeat, the Dutch side will progress to the knockouts in third place qualification behind France. 

So far in this Championship, no France player has scored except Mbappe - the team won their first game from Maximilian Wober's own goal.

Overview 

Poland did really well at keeping off the French side from finding the back of the net and when they did, they lived up to the task at the front to find the equalizer. At the front, the French side remained not as blunt as expected and N'Golo Kante played a big role at charging up the team.
