Rafael Nadal Knocked Out of Roland Garros In First Round

 


Former Roland Garros champion, Rafael Nadal has been knocked out in the early stages of the tournament after losing to Alexander Zverev in straight sets 6-3 7-6(4) 6-3 in the first round. 

Nadal has been struggling with his fitness for sometimes and there are rumours the loss might be the 11-time champion last appearance at the tournament, but there are yet no statement regarding his future in the sport from the player. 

Zverev was sensational from the start, dominating the sets even in the face of attempts from the Spaniard to pick up on his form. However, the German took chances on the former champion's rustiness, which was observe about the player inability react to drop and cross-court shots. 

"It's difficult for me to talk. I don't know if it's going to be the last time that i'm going here in front of all of you," said Nadal in postmatch interview. "I am not 100 per centsure, but if it's the last time, i enjoyed it." 

The loss happened to be the earliest exit at Roland Garros for Nadal and Zverev will be the third player to defeat the former champion at the tournament after Novak Djokovic and Robin Soderling.
