Premier League: Man City Near Title Defence Realization As Race Heats Up With Fulham Defeat

Manchester City claimed an important clean sheet victory against Fulham by 4-0 with Josko Gvardiol scoring a brace and they maintained the push for the Premier League title defence against season rivals, Arsenal.

Gvardiol put City ahead with an early goal after exchange of passes with Kevin de Bruyne and smashed a low-cut shot past Leno. Phil Foden doubled the lead blasting home down bottom right, a loose ball from Bernando Silva's effort after halftime.

City went three goals clear as Gvardiol leapt to tap home from close range a Silva's cross before Julian Alvarez sealed the victory with stoppage time goal from a penalty.

With a game in the hand, City are coasting to lifting the Premier League trophy for the fourth consecutive time as the trail Arsenal by just a point. However, they will need to win all their games to ensure lifting the trophy.

Overview

Fulham were held to playing to City's dictate for much of the time, and since they could not have pace to be offensive, City dominated the midfield and played deep into their half. Silva's role in the game was immense and involved in the making of half of the goals.

Kevin was another strong force at the front but Foden remained the goalscorer in place of Erling Haaland. The Norwegian had a couple of chance but could not pull any off. Fulham have no great consequences for the loss as they are well away from the relegation zone, and for City, winning means a lot to them in defending the Premier League title.
