Kylian Mbappe Confirms Paris Saint-Germain Exit, Says Season His "Last Year"
The dust has eventually settled over the speculations of Kylian Mbappe's future at Paris Saint-Germain and the player has openly confirmed that the season will be his "last year" with the Paris-based club.
For many times, often a heated debate, the Frenchman is known to secretly nurse interest in joining another European giants, Real Madrid. However, the speculations were either denied by the club or the player is held back to a contract renewal.
Currently, his contract is set to run out by the end in June and now has confirmed his PSG exit in a video he uploaded online, in which he affirmed that he "will not extend" his contract any further.
"It's my last year at Paris Saint-Germain," he affirmed in the video. "I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks.
PSG were just knocked out of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League semi-final by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, which further forfeited the striker's hope of lifting the silverware with the club. Meanwhile, Real Madrid have reached the final for the 18th time and will play against Dortmund in Wembley on July 1.
Already, it is understood that the 26-year-old has agreed to a contract with Real back in February for his transfer this summer. The transfer, however, will come at the cost of the player taking a cut in his weekly earnings compare to what he currently earns at PSG. Even at that, he will yet be well off enough as he earns €1.38m-per-week at PSG, making him the highest-paid in Europe.
As a Fifa World Cup winner with France, the Champions League trophy is the one important silverware that the forward might crave to have in his record. Perhaps, moving Real can make that happen that and will come in handy for the side that has not found replacement to Karim Benzema since he left.
