Chelsea Agree Five-year Deal With Enzo Maresca

Former Leicester City manager, Enzo Maresca has agreed to a five-year deal with Chelsea, for what is set to be the replacement for Mauricio Pocchettino, who has left the club.

Chelsea were initially linked to Ipswich manager, Kieran McKenna before they switch interest to Maresca had a successful season with the Foxes, who he returned to the Premier League, winning the Championship title in his debut with the side.

The owners of Chelsea spent big in the last transfer window upon appointing Pochettino to replace Frank Lampard. The Argentine manager yet had a difficult time delivering results despite the signings, and since the club seemed not to be getting their money's worth, they parted ways with Pochettino though he led the Blues to finish in top-five for a Europa League qualification.

Maresca, 44, was appointed as the Foxes manager last year after they relegated from the Premier League. The Italian became an English football sensation after winning the EFL Championship, with the side that for the dirst-time won the EPL title in 2016/17 - it was deemed miraculous to have achieved that with players like Wes Morgan, Jamie Vardy and James Madisson.

Maresca started his coaching career at Machester City, where he later returned to as an assistant manager under Pep Guardiola after a short spell at Pharma, which is one of the factors that made even more attractive.
