Barcelona Sign New Manager As Bayern Munich Appoint Former Burnley Manager As Head Coach
Just days after Barcelona sacked former manager, Xavi Hernanadez, a new manager has been signed in his replacement and former Bayern Munich manager, Hansi Flick is the candidate hired by the club.
Barcelona, in a statement, confirmed the signing of Flick on Wednesday to a two-year contract after an agreement was reached between both parties. Meanwhile, Barce initially intended to keep Xavi longer but the former Spain International had reinterated his intentions to leave the club mid-way of the season.
"I won some titles with Bayern Munich and my hunger is really big for title," said Flick on his appointment. "I will like to stay on this path with Barcelona."
In a separate development, heading the other way is former Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, who has beome the new head coach of Bayern Munich in a shocking replacement of Tomas Tuchel.
The just completed season was unsuccesful for Tuchel, who failed to win the Bundesliga title for the side as Bayer Leverkusen dominated the league to win the title unbeaten through the season for the first time ever. Bayern also missed out on reaching the Champions League final in a loss to Real Madrid.
Kompany did not have a successful season either at Burnley and have relegated from the Premier League after finishing the season in the 19th place. Regardless, Bayern executive, Jan-Christian Dressen described the Belgian as the "right coach" for the side.
"All of us at the club agree that Vincent Kompany is the right coach for FC Bayern," said Jan-Christian. "We are very much looking forward to working with him."
The 38-year-old former Manchester City player is confirmed to have been signed to a deal reportedly valued at £10 million that will run until 30 June , 2027.
