Premier League: Man City Keep Pressure On As Title Race Heats Up After beating Brighton

Manchester City have kept the margin slimmer for Arsenal in the Premier League title race after comfortably defeating Brighton & Albion Hove 4-0 at home.

City quickly established their control of the game with a glance header from Kevin de Bruyne that beat Jason Steele to the goal. Phil Foden doubled the lead with the second from a free-kick which was deflected on Gross. Then, he made it third curling home a loose ball from a poor clearance in front of the goal.

Julian Alvarez later completed the scoring after halftime, blasting home a loose following fast break from Ederson's deep lob to Kyle Walker, which was poorly saved by Steele. The victory would extend City's unbeaten run to 30 consecutive games in all competitions.

Overview

It was a neat victory for City in a game that for the first quarter seemed as Brighton were up to the task of getting something out of. The Seagulls' attack were well matched with City's defense keeping in check Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck, who for much of time was quiet.

Kevin de Bruyne remained an key player at making things happen for City. That was not to mention the role played by Phil Foden, whose goal tally to 21 in all competitions - he scored two and assisted with Kevin's. However, for Brighton, besides Kevin's opener, the three goals came off defensive flops: Alvarez was all by himself to guide the loose ball in for winner.

Nonetheless, it was Delightful game from Brighton, just that they were up against a much stronger side, keen on winning anyways. They couldn't have cause a scare later in the second half even after Kevin as replaced by Nunez. Pep Guardiola kept his attack bolstered playing Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku on both wings as substitutes for both Foden and Bernardo Silva. Brighton were comfortably beaten by their opponents.
